Road Trip Recap
Well, it started off well when R and donna88keys were late coming to pick me up. The drive down to West Palm was uneventful with no mistakes. Those waited until we got off the highway. We knew the street we wanted so we make the turn we needed. We keep an eye on the left for the museum and see a sign for "circular plaza ahead" which amused us. We keep driving and everything becomes more residential and soon we see a sign that we're entering the next town. R performs one of her infamous u-turns and then we decide to go over a block to a major thoroughfare in the hopes of seeing a sign. R had printed directions from Google and we actually looked at them (Donna had said they would take us farther south than we needed) and found the street they said to use. We cut back to the original street and head back up the way we came. We obviously had been looking the wrong way and I finally spotted it from the back seat and we pulled into the parking lot. Why had we missed a large museum, you ask? It was located on the circular plaza that had amused us before!

We trekked up to the top floor where they had the European art and I'll admit, a big chunk of the artists represented were unfamiliar. They did have Reynolds, Monet, Gaugin, Matisse, Picasso, Braque and Chagall. The vanGogh was amazing, absolutely amazing. When you look into those eyes... It was one of his last.

The second floor was Chinese art which included porcelain, jade, stone, a huge carved wood screen and laquered cabinets that made me think of The Talons of Weng-Chiang

On the stairway they had quotes from different artists, some of which really need to be on t-shirts. ("If I think, everything is lost" Cezanne)

The ground floor is mainly American art, but they had special exhibits set up. Some of the artists representing America were Rockwell, NC Wyeth, ANdrew Wyeth, O'Keefe and Pollock.

They also had a small piece of statuary by Henry Moore.

OK, done with the musem, we head over to City Place, an open air mall. Starving, we stop at Taverna Opa, a Greek restaurant (if you couldn't guess) Our waiter was a kick! We walk off lunch and stroll about. We head back to the parking garage and end up doing another u-turn to get out. I will admit I was a little turned around so I had no idea where we were and let Dinna tell R which way to go. We ended up going in the opposite direction over the intercoastal into Palm Beach. ANother u-turn (a record!) we finally head back and reach I95.
